Mubarak Hamad Al Shamsi serves as Director of the Abu Dhabi Convention & Exhibition Bureau at the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, where he leads the strategic development of Abu Dhabi’s business events sector as a key pillar of the emirate’s economic diversification agenda. His work focuses on policy alignment, long-term destination competitiveness, and leveraging international conventions and exhibitions to deliver sustainable economic and knowledge-based impact.

With more than 21 years of experience across tourism, events, and international market development, Mr. Al Shamsi has overseen the formulation and execution of destination-wide strategies that strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position within the global MICE ecosystem. His leadership spans bid strategy, international partnerships, government and private-sector coordination, and the integration of business events into priority economic clusters.

At the international level, Mr. Al Shamsi has played an active role in shaping industry dialogue and governance through senior leadership positions, including Chairperson of the ICCA Middle East Chapter and as 1st Vice President of the ICCA International Board. He currently serves on the board of the IAEE MENA Chapter.
Mr. Al Shamsi holds a master’s degree in general management from LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome, Italy, and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Colorado, USA.
